Quaint Wood Cabin In Shade Trees With Stone Patio Overlooking East Verde River
Our private cabin has been in our family since 1970 and was one of the first 12 showcase cabins located in Beaver Valley right on the East Verde River. We are just outside of Payson Arizona by 8 paved miles. Beaver Valley is a 200 acre development surrounded by the 2,800,000 acre (1,170,000 hectare) Tonto National Forest. The cabin has been meticulously maintained to its original condition since new -both inside and out. We have a warm knotty pine interior and exterior, western couch and matching chairs which are in like new condition. There are original maps and an antique 1905 wind up wall mounted telephone for extra nostalgia. The cabin has delightful shade provided by trees some of which are 300 year old hardwoods. There is a new stone patio that is not shown in these pictures but overlooks the river just 75 feet away. The stone patio is perfect for a relaxing BBQ or to enjoy the cool breezes that come off the river. Each bedroom has windows that overlook the river which provides recreation, cool summer breezes and natural year round music. Access is available year round via paved roads.
There are miles and miles of trails into the forest and countless fishing holes for native rainbow trout (AZ fishing license required) along this exclusive unspoiled section of East Verde River. Hike the river to find your favorite fishing hole and catch your breakfast. Swim along the bank of the river or climb the giant Arizona sycamore trees. Take the day challenge to climb to up to the ancient caves perched 1000 feet above the cabin less than a mile away and see the splendor of the upland forest. Rally the kids to see ancient Indian ruins which are over 1000 years old and just three miles down the road. Consider using the cabin as a base-camp to explore the countless 4-wheel drive roads of the area. Drive up to the next crossing and then hike in to see the largest waterfalls on the East Verde River, which falls almost 4 stories ( ). Build sand castles in the privacy of your own backyard beach while taking in the abundant fresh air and peaceful solitude.
The cabin is a quaint two-bedroom one-bath configuration with a small stone covered patio at its side door with sleeping arrangements for 5. The furniture is rustic, comfortable and straight out of the wild-west. The kitchen includes a new refrigerator, microwave, and a 1965 era electric stove/oven in perfect shape and function.
The cabin is a great place for the whole family and especially young kids. There is a community field for out door activities immediately in front of the cabin and a fenced children’s play yard with a jungle gym, swings, teeter-toter, merry-go-round and more just a short 50 yards away. The back yard has a sandy section next to the river with ample sun and shade for kids to play and is one of the best fishing holes in the area. There is no internet service but cell phone access is available. Further, there is a color TV and Blue-Ray system but most families encourage playing games at night or reading the antique magazines. The Double-R Cabin is a great way to enable the family to go back in time to a simple lifestyle full of natural beauty and family fun.
